New Zealand's marine life and coastal environment are under threat from
introduced marine plants and animals and aquatic diseases. These can easily

spread from one location to another on your vessel hull and equipment.

From May 2018 all vessels arriving in New Zealand will need
to have a clean hull. Check here for biofouling requirements for
your vessel type.

To protect the things you value:

  • Keep your hull and underwater fittings free of fouling
  • Regularly haul out for a good clean
  • When cleaning, dispose of debris to bins rather than back in the water
  • Regularly apply antifouling paint and make sure it's effective Keep marine equipment (e.g. ropes, nets, fishing gear, trailers) clean and free of fouling
  • Look out for unusual marine life or events such as mass fish deaths.
